We Catholics are known many things, a long rich, and some
times turbulence history, religious reform, charity to others, and the saints.
In fact, we have so many saints that at times we are even surprise by their name,
history. and number. Below is St. Gertrude of
Nivelles the patron saint of cats. Her feast day March 17, this Friday to
be exact.
While St. Gertrude
of Nivelles is the patron saint of travelers, gardeners and cats, and against
rats and mental illness, she should not be confused with Saint Gertrude of
Helfta (Gertrude the Great) whose feast day falls on November 16 and is the
patron saint of the West Indies.
In addition, Saint
Roch is the patron saint of dogs. His feast day is August
16,, and St. Francis of
Assisi is the patron saint to all animals, and October
4 is his feast day.
